The next stop was Badlands National Park.
It is really other-worldly, like being on the moon. Not that I have
any real basis for comparison, but i would imagine so! You can just
walk out onto the rock, and it's kinda freaky since there are thses cracks
and crevaces that plunge to hundreds of feet right below you. It's
creepy. It was really hot out, and the day was actually cool in comparison
of normal temperatures for South Dakota in July...
The rock is striated with this spongy white and this
harder, red like rock below. It's wild.
wild. After a few pictures and looking at a lot
of moon rock, we drove on to the black hills to our KOA to set up camp.
Next stop was Mount Rushmore.
