I had a lovely campsite, and here is the old setup. Tupical Shelby accoutrements such as propane heater for the tent (new!) and the old tent. My new propane camp stove! (not the metal concotion that Gabe and I put up with for 2 months)!
Death Valley looks much like this picture- dry, cracked, and desolate. This was in the old riverbed, that is only active maybe one month a year in sufficient rain, which is not often.
